The house of the heart

Dear friends, after visiting this website you will wonder whether what you have read is true: I know it, I see from your faces: faces a little strained and in need of rest, marked with weariness and anxiety, or simply curious of other realities.

Well I, Novelia, in the flesh and blood, am here for this reason. I am the witness of myself and of this truth. I was born in Abruzzo and I know the attractions of my land, the ones you as well will see, enjoy and will always keep in your heart: uncontaminated nature, cathedrals of rock, clear and light air, grass and snow, dazzling clouds that look for the sky and bright nights that surround windows of colour; countries and little towns that seem coming out from fables; churches and temples of disarming beauty, so rare and ancient that you can't look for other things, or better you can ask what love has driven and made possible their existence.

I know my town: a casket of history that is able to compete even with the ancient Rome since it is wrapped with the same myth; I know its real, combative and noble people; a melting pot of thinkers, merchants and saints who forged Sulmona as a "royal town", committing it to the great history of Italy and Europe.

Finally I am the landlady of the house who has preserved the host's duty, the real kindness, the generosity, the unselfishness of the people of Abruzzo.

That's why it will be easy for you to find me clad in a woman's suit while using the computer, or clad in grandmother's apron while rolling the flour pastry like one hundred years ago.

It's always me, Novelia for sure, like my homeland.

When, in the end, you have read my intimacies you will think, still a little sceptical, that it is easy for anyone to talk well about their own homeland, I'll invite you all to reflect on the words the poet Ovidio, more than two thousand years ago, handed on us forever: Sulmona is my fatherland, but if it's true that the fatherland implies a sense of belonging, my house and the one of yours is every place where the heart can rest.

I'm waiting for you
